Master plan of the New Champaign Art District in Downtown Champaign. This project has a series of branches: market place, residential, commercial, residence specifically designed for artists with “Ateliers”. The scope of this particular project is to bring mixed use buildings into the north area of New Champaign Art District. There are three low rise buildings of four stories: The first floor includes retail stores whereas the second, third and fourth floor are the residential area. The building would enhance the character of the downtown champaign with its simple rectilinear configuration. The building promotes a sense of community by the integration with the new art district master plan and serve as hosting place for visiting artists. The use of their balconies will allow a view of the train rails and court yards. Also, it will protect from the sun, winds, and train sounds. The buildings use a variety of  material palette such as steel, brick and reinforced concrete. Furthermore, it uses its simple geometry to convey functionality and industrial character.
